A federal jury in Delaware has ruled against GoDaddy (GDDY), ordering the tech company to pay $170 million to Express Mobile for patent infringement related to website-building technology. The verdict, made public on Friday, found GoDaddy's tools violated two Express Mobile patents. GoDaddy disputes the ruling and plans to appeal.

Express Mobile, founded by former IBM engineer Steven Rempell, initially sued GoDaddy in 2019. The company has a history of patent litigation, including a $40 million win against Shopify (SHOP) in 2022—later overturned. GoDaddy previously defeated similar claims in a 2023 trial.
